Family History Research
Services Offered
Family History Research
We all want to know where we came from, and how we came to be the individuals that we are. We can determine some of this by simply looking at our childhoods. However, to really understand ourselves and our families, we must come to know our ancestors, their lives, their backgrounds, and the paths their lives took throughout history. Researching your family history can provide for you an historic timeline of your family, a "picture" of your ancestors and how they lived their lives, and a connection to your past that no history book can provide. A detailed research report will be provided including all source documentation. Leaving a legacy for your descendants can be an invaluable gift.
Family Trees
Have you traced your heritage? Do you know who your great grandparents names? Do you know your ethnic heritage? Are you a Mayflower descendant? Do you have royal blood in your family? Was anyone in your family a victim of the Holocaust? Were your ancestors kept as slaves? Is there a black sheep lurking in your family tree? A family tree can provide for you answers to many of these questions and more. It can date back to the early days of this country, or it can go back to medieval times. Your ancestors may have ethnic heritage that you never dreamed of. A Family Tree Chart is a visual picture of your family and roots. A Family Tree Report is a lasting document that your descendants can add to in the future.
Consulation
Do you want to do the work on your own, but do not know where to begin? Do you have a family story that you want to validate? Do you know where your grandparents were born, but can't figure out how they came to live so far away from home? Consultations and simple look-ups can help you fill the holes in the information that you already have.
Fees
Research fees begin at $30.00 per hour, with a 3 hour minimum. Most research takes a block of time between 10 and 30 hours, to perform comprehensive exploration and examination of the sources.
All projects will be discussed initially to determine the best course of action and a suitable contract will be developed between Evergreen Genealogy services and you, the client, prior to beginning any project. Additional expenses that can be incurred include, but are not limited to, photocopy costs, fees for procuring documents, microfilm rental, travel expenses, and postage. Travel farther than 50 miles from my area will be negotiated before expenses are incurred. At times, associate researchers in other states may be used, and will be billed at my hourly rate plus 30%, unless the appropriate researcher charges more than my hourly rate. Then their fee will be charges with a 30% surcharge.

Below is a link to a sample contract for services. Each contract will be customized to meet your individual needs. Please note that your responsibility is to provide any and all information in your possession, to avoid my locating records and information that you already have.
